My name is Shorai Francisca Chikwavira, but I prefer to be called Fran. I have been a professional carer for 22 years and have a strong background in dementia care, with a particular focus on supporting elderly individuals. I hold a Degree in Health and Social Care, and I am highly qualified to provide compassionate and expert care to those in need. Over my career, I’ve had the privilege of working in various settings, including the NHS, where I gained extensive experience in moving and handling techniques, including track hoisting.
I am also trained in medication administration and have hands-on experience in providing personal care, such as washing, dressing, and grooming. In addition, I am skilled in assisting with mobility and offering palliative and end-of-life care. I have worked with individuals living with dementia from the early stages of diagnosis to advanced stages, always ensuring their care needs are met with the utmost respect and dignity.
Most recently, I have had the opportunity to gain four months of live-in care experience, which has further strengthened my ability to provide round-the-clock, personalised care in the comfort of clients’ homes.
I am known for being thoughtful, empathetic, and passionate about my work. I take the time to get to know my clients’ needs, ensuring open and clear communication at all times, so they feel both comfortable and confident with the care I provide. I describe myself as loving and committed to delivering the highest standard of care, always with the goal of making my clients feel heard, valued, and supported. My approach is rooted in the belief that care should be both professional and personal, treating each person with the same kindness and respect I would want for myself.
Outside of my work, I enjoy going to church, listening to choral music, gardening, knitting, and spending quality time with my family. I am passionate about making those under my care feel a sense of purpose, helping them engage in activities they love, and enhancing their quality of life.
