About Desiree J.

Hello, my name is Desiree, and I am a proud South African-born British citizen with a lifelong commitment to compassionate, person-centered care. My journey in healthcare began in 1978 when I was recruited as a nurse by a private mental health company in South Africa. Since then, I’ve dedicated my career to the care sector, accumulating over 49 years of experience across a variety of roles and specialties. From Operations Director to Regional Director, I’ve gained a wealth of knowledge that has shaped my understanding of what truly matters in delivering exceptional care: putting people at the heart of everything we do. Throughout my career, I have always believed that quality care is about more than simply meeting physical needs; it's about creating an environment where individuals feel safe, respected, and empowered to live fulfilling lives. I am passionate about tailoring care to each person’s unique needs, promoting their dignity, independence, and joy. I am dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those I support. I have beeing working in the UK for 21 years in and my heart remains with the personal, one-to-one care I’ve been fortunate enough to provide throughout my career. I pride myself on being friendly, compassionate, knowledgeable, and deeply empathetic—qualities that I believe are essential in fostering trust and building meaningful relationships with those in my care. I believe in finding joy in every moment, and I bring this sense of warmth, humor, and positivity into my work. My goal is simple: to enhance lives by providing holistic, compassionate care that supports each person in living a meaningful, joyful life. It would be a privilege to offer my expertise, dedication, and heart to those who need it most.
