About Stellah M.

My name is Stellah Mabandla, and I have been working as a carer for over 20 years. I am also a qualified Mental Health Nurse, and caring has always been one of my greatest passions. My journey into care work is deeply personal. My mother lived with dementia, but at the time, we didn't have the understanding we do today. It wasn’t until I moved to the UK in 2003 that I learned about dementia and recognized that my mother had been living with the condition. Sadly, she had passed away by then, but this experience fueled my desire to deepen my understanding and knowledge of dementia and other mental health conditions. Since then, my passion for caring has only grown. I aim to not only provide the best care to those I support but also share what I’ve learned with my family back home, particularly in rural areas where information is limited. I want to empower people to better understand mental health and dementia, ensuring that those I care for can maintain their independence and dignity while managing their daily activities. I hold a Master’s degree (MSc) in Mental Health Nursing and a degree in Public Health. Over the course of 21 years, I have gained extensive experience, including 6 years working as a live-in carer. My experience has been broad and varied, and I am well-versed in working with clients with a range of health conditions, including mental health challenges. I would describe myself as open, friendly, and knowledgeable, with a bubbly personality that helps to create a positive environment for those I care for. I am committed to providing compassionate care and ensuring that the individuals I support feel safe, valued, and well cared for.
