3 years of live-in care experience

About Mabel D.

I originally took time out from my role as a lecturer at a college of Further Education before the Covid-19 pandemic, and ultimately worked from April 2019 to March 2022. After completing the academic year in July 2022, I decided to focus on a more hands-on role as a live-in carer, where I feel I can make a greater impact. From 2008 to 2009, I worked as an hourly domiciliary carer, supporting clients who chose to remain in their own homes. I also spent several months as a care assistant in a residential care home, caring for elderly and infirm residents. Since 2019, and again from October 2022 to the present, I have been a live-in carer, providing person-centered support for clients with diverse needs. These have included individuals with early to mid-stage dementia, those recovering from strokes, and clients who required companionship or specialized care, including one bed-bound client with multiple sclerosis. I have collaborated with various allied health professionals and other domiciliary carers to deliver comprehensive, individualized care in home settings, ensuring clients’ needs are met with respect and dignity.
