Hamlet V.

Hamlet is a warm, insightful, and intelligent carer. He is originally from Germany and spent most of his life in South Africa, before moving to the UK and living here permanently since 2006. He speaks English fluently with a very soft South African/German accent. Hamlet has worked as a live-in carer since 2018 and has gained experience assisting clients with complex care needs including advanced dementia, advanced Parkinson’s, stroke care, palliative care and COPD. He has practical experience in catheter care and a range of hoists. He also has experience in two carer roles, single roles and caring for couples. Prior to his work as a carer, Hamlet worked for many years as a Management Consultant. However, when he became unfulfilled in this role, pursuing a career in care was the obvious next choice for him. A member of his family was a carer who set up an accommodation service for carers needing somewhere to stay between jobs and as a result, Hamlet got to know about the role of a live-in carer and decided to retrain. He finds it very rewarding to work in a role that is person-focused, where he can be useful and can make a difference to his client. He enjoys the challenge of finding ways to make each client’s life better.
