About Petra A.

My natural compassion and empathy for others inspired me to pursue a career in caregiving over twelve years ago. I began my journey as an employed carer and transitioned to self-employment eight years ago. Throughout my career, I have supported individuals facing a variety of challenges, including multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, vascular dementia, strokes, cerebral palsy, and those who are bed-bound or disabled. My role has involved assisting clients with daily tasks such as toileting, catheter care, personal hygiene, dressing, bathing, and enabling mobility through hoisting and wheelchair support. I am experienced in medication administration, cooking, feeding, shopping, laundry, and accompanying clients to appointments, as well as running errands. I also provide companionship, engaging clients in social activities to enhance their quality of life. With a full, clean driving license, I enjoy taking clients on social outings. Recently, I have focused on end-of-life care, ensuring that clients are comfortable at home as a live-in carer. I work effectively with other members of the palliative care team, including doctors and nurses. My professional background has equipped me with the knowledge and confidence to assist individuals with diverse needs, allowing me to manage various disabilities with compassion. I enjoy listening to older adults and am happy to work at their pace, following their lead. I consider myself reliable, kind, caring, and patient, with a knack for creating a positive and constructive environment where individuals feel comfortable and content. For me, caregiving is more than just a job; it is a calling.
