About Pammie H.

I am an empathetic and patient individual who is reliable and observant. I respect people's differences in religion, race, and creed, and I possess strong listening skills that complement my bubbly personality. I understand the importance of getting to know each client, including their likes and dislikes, as considering their views and beliefs allows me to provide the best support for them to live as independently as possible. My experience includes working with individuals facing a range of conditions, including Alzheimer’s, dementia, anxiety, COPD, depression, HIV, mild cognitive impairment, non-insulin-dependent (Type 2) diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, rheumatoid arthritis, strokes, and visual impairments. I encourage clients to complete any tasks they are capable of and strive to create a safe environment that empowers them to try new tasks or regain lost skills. I believe effective communication is vital, both verbally and non-verbally, as it helps me understand each client's preferred communication style and fosters a strong connection. Engaging in activities together—such as preparing meals, going for walks, shopping, and participating in household tasks—helps build trust and rapport. I genuinely enjoy talking to people and learning about their life experiences, as I believe that a significant part of someone's personality is shaped by their background. I take the time to learn about my clients' histories, which enhances our relationship. As a good cook, I have plenty of my own recipe ideas, but I also love trying new ones. My experience supporting individuals with various conditions has taught me to be adaptable and prepared for last-minute changes. I am comfortable assisting clients with all aspects of daily life, including mobility support using appropriate equipment.

“Pammie looked after our mother with the utmost care and gentle consideration for all her needs. She gently encouraged her in every aspect, prompting her to eat and drink as she became ever frailer She always listened respectfully and attentively to mum's recollections and remembered to ask questions of family members where she felt that this could improve her understanding and their interaction and increase mum's enjoyment of life. Pammie's sole consideration was to support our mother and she was a serious and committed carer who worked well with the family - we would have absolute confidence in recommending her.”
