I began my career in care work in 2001, starting in nursing and residential care homes. Over the years, I have gained valuable experience supporting individuals with various conditions, including Alzheimer’s, dementia, multiple sclerosis, COPD, cerebral palsy, depression, HIV, non-insulin-dependent (Type 2) diabetes, physical disabilities, strokes, vascular dementia, and those in palliative care. My role has included providing emotional support to patients, assisting with personal care, and managing tasks such as catheter changes, cooking, laundry, cleaning, ironing, and shopping. I am known for being caring, kind, patient, and a good listener. Throughout my career, I have collaborated with a range of health professionals, including doctors, nurses, dentists, dietitians, social workers, and fellow health carers. I genuinely love my job as a carer because it allows me to make a meaningful difference in someone's life. In my free time, I enjoy walking, listening to the radio, and watching TV. I also love taking clients for walks, shopping trips, and drives, and I’m always eager to learn how to cook different foods. I am available for work nationally and have dedicated over 9 years to caring for others. This profession is truly a part of who I am, and I believe that to be an effective carer, one must be kind, loving, and committed to making a difference.
