Hometouch Care Models
All of our carers go through vetting and training to ensure high standards for our clients. And at Hometouch, you can choose either an introductory or regulated care model.Introductory care is when a person in need of care is introduced to a carer. Hometouch does not directly manage it, but we make sure to deliver the service. The management happens among a care recipient, a carer, and a family member (or anyone else the care recipient wishes to have). If you want to control your loved one’s care, this is the perfect model for you.
Regulated care is routinely checked by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the independent regulator of health and social care in England. This model offers a complex package of services managed by Hometouch. This means that we also monitor and assess the care plan and carer’s performance. CQC offers detailed reports of our quality of work here.
If you are unsure which care model suits your family’s needs best, contact us or give us a call for further consultation at 020 3870 4220.
What To Know Before Hiring a Live-in Carer?
When choosing a live-in care provider, make sure to identify your requirements first. We need to understand your expectations. Additionally, to meet your needs, we will assess the health condition of your loved one to assign a suitable carer.
At Hometouch, we prepare a detailed plan for your loved one and give you access to a journal with updates after every visit.
A live-in carer requires a private space in the apartment or house, which also should be in good functional condition. The spare place doesn’t have to be a bedroom. You can adjust a living or a study room. A bathroom can be the one you already have, but it should be clean and with a place for personal toiletries. And, finally, Wi-Fi is a must-have to stay connected with your carer.
At Hometouch, we check carers’ criminal records, but it is still advised to lock away any valuable items. We put great trust in our specialists, but sometimes patients with dementia may forget where they put their expensive belongings leading to misunderstandings.
Hometouch values and cares about the unique needs of clients. We fully support your loved ones so you can have a piece of mind. Contact Hometouch Care Advisor to explore our services.
What is live-in care?
Live-in care is when a carer lives with the person receiving care in their home. From companionship care all the way to round-the-clock complex care, a live-in carer can provide one-to-one support in your loved one’s own home. This is especially important for people living with dementia, who may become increasingly confused or distressed in unfamiliar surroundings.
A dedicated live-in carer can provide your loved one with more individual care than they’d receive at a residential home. So whether it’s a day out on weekends, or fish and chips in front of the TV on a Friday evening, your loved one can carry on doing the things they enjoy. And because the carer is staying on-site, it’s often cheaper than a care home too. To find out more about the cost of care where you live, take a look at our page on understanding the cost of care.
At hometouch, we help people live happily, safely and with dignity in their own homes. If you think live-in care could be right for your loved one, contact a hometouch Care Advisor today.
