Throughout my 7 years of experience I have worked alongside clients who have suffered a wide variety of illnesses, generally by dementia, stroke, motor neurone, COPD, etc. I also worked in different settings from stately homes to small cottages.

I believe that as a carer my main role is to ensure that my client can continue to live in their own home, with as little interruptions as possible. I like to encourage my clients to follow their interests. Whenever possible I enjoy taking my clients out, spending time doing crosswords, puzzles, playing chess but I am also happy to sit and assist them if required. It is dependent on each individual client needs and abilities.

I enjoy travelling, reading, handicraft, walks, etc.

I'm available for live in care work at the following times: from now to 21st October, from 5th November to 3rd December, from 12th January to 29th January and then from March to August 2018. Please do not hesitate to contact me to discuss your individual requirements.

We employed Helen to look after my husband's grandmother. She worked with my grandmother for three months as a live in carer. Mavis had suffered a broken hip and we engaged Helen to re-settle her into her home and the aim was for her to live independently again. Unfortunately Mavis never fully recovered and died three months later. Helen carried out all the duties from her return from hospital to her death, this included full personal care, ensuring she had a healthy diet, and that all her needs were met. Helen ensured that Mavis was comfortable, clean, and worked to provide a variety of actives such as driving through the countryside (whilst possible), accommodating visits from family and friends, and providing quiet times when needed. While Mavis was failing physically Helen still encouraged her to keep her mind active with conversations, reminiscences, crosswords and jokes. We all commented as a family how content Mavis seemed in her final months despite the dramatic deterioration of her health. Helen ran the home efficiently and effectively, and through some very difficult times was calm and professional, organised and thoughtful. We found her to be reliable and trustworthy, and would recommend her for any role without hesitation. Mavis found Helen to be a great companion and we took great comfort from Helen's supportive presence. I have no reason whatsoever to doubt Helen Maynard's honesty, reliability and her ability to adapt and care to any situation.
