I began my caring career at a nursing home whilst at university which was invaluable in teaching me personal care and moving and handling skills. Once I left university I became a live in carer with and I've been doing that on and off for almost 9 years. During this time I have cared for a wide variety of elderly people and some younger disabled adults with cerebral palsy, Parkinson's and acquired brain injury. I have also had a job as a teaching assistant for teenagers with Down's syndrome, and as a support worker in Leeds for adults with learning disabilities, assisting them to be independent in their own homes.

I am very patient, calm, and reassuring. I believe I am an intuitive person who can understand different client needs. Some clients prefer their own space and only want my help with the things they find challenging and some prefer a companion. I'm able to help with personal care, house work, cooking, moving and handling and also happy to participate in any of the client's personal interests and activities such as going to the cinema or the church, going out for walks, shopping, visiting friends and family

I enjoy embroidery, drawing, sewing, reading, meditation, yoga and jogging.

I'm available immediately. I prefer to work 6 weeks on and 2 weeks off but I can be flexible and adapt to your needs.

Jacqueline has been caring for some months for my mother who is in her late 80s and suffering from advanced Parkinson’s disease. This means that she has to feed, wash, dress and cook for mum. As well as dealing with her toileting needs, monitoring her catheter and administering her medication on time, doing her laundry and cleaning the flat etc. etc. This might not seem exceptional as these are arguably duties you might expect any carer to have to carry out, but it is how Jacqueline executes them that makes it worthy of mention. I do not believe that this is just a way of earning a wage for Jacqueline, but rather a means of working where she can be of service and make the life of someone who is suffering from illness or discomfort more comfortable. She is a sincerely kind, gentle person who treats mum with genuine compassion and respect. As my mother is still mentally very bright, but totally physically disabled we also wanted a carer with whom she could engage in stimulating conversations. Jacqueline is a very intelligent young woman who will watch films with mum or have interesting discussions. She is however not overpowering and will sit quietly studying in the same room while mum reads her book: a quiet reassuring, companionable presence. Finally, Jacqueline has always been reliable, trustworthy and punctual. If she has ever had any concerns about mum’s welfare she has been proactive in contacting the nurse or doctor. In short, mum is delighted to have Jacqueline as one of her carers and, as a family, we cannot speak highly enough of her:

Jacqui acted as a carer for my mother, Sheila. Jacqui looked after my mother for about a year, though this was based on her staying about 2 or 3 weeks at a time. Jacqui cared for my mother, helped her get dressed in the morning, made her breakfast, kept her company, took her down to lunch, made her supper and some nights would get up during the night to help her. Jacqui was extremely reliable and also punctual. Jacqui is very well suited to the role of helping the elderly, I would highly recommend her.

Jacqueline was a live-in carer to my brother for two years until his death in November, 2015 but I still maintain contact with her. Jacqueline attended to my brother's personal hygiene needs, latterly this involved use of a hoist in and out of bed and into the shower. She observed the state of his in dwelling catheter, alerted the community nurses when necessary and prepared his daily food which he requested. My brother felt very comfortable when Jacqueline was looking after him. Jacqueline was always on time and on occasions would answer a request for attention if my brother required it at night, this was not frequent. She always returned promptly after time off during the day. She was always totally reliable. I have no hesitation in recommending Jacqueline to you - she always carried out her duties with great kindness and was able to use her initiative when dealing with any issues.
