“I’d like to take this opportunity to mention how much we have appreciated the excellent care and support that Bamidele gave our mum and us on a daily basis for over six months. We originally just wanted a carer for cover over Christmas but, found her so good that we extended her contract. We can fully appreciate that caring for someone in the early/mid stages of dementia is very stressful for a family but, Bamidele is very impressive: she always managed to calm our mum down – she never raised her voice, on the contrary she was quiet and reassuring and yet firm when she needed to be. For example, when giving mum her medication which was kept locked in a safe mum would demand the key, or sometimes refuse to take the tablets. Bamidele always smoothed the situation and mum always took her meds. Also, because we work Bamidele was the person who made sure that the front and back doors were locked when she left. She was very dependable for safety measures and for last minute time changes if we had any problems with getting over to mum’s. She was also very friendly and she and mum always got on well. When there were the inevitable difficulties which arise from a person with dementia as the illness progresses Bamidele always adapted to them and was a constant support to the whole family. She helped mum in cleaning and washing and the appearance of the house improved. When mum had a fall she even went with her to A&E and insisted on waiting there till she could go home again. The service she provided has been excellent adjusting to our circumstances perfectly. She really tried to fit in with the family and couldn’t have been better. We would highly recommend her.”
