About Sheila V.

My name is Sheila Vukomba, and I am a professional live-in carer with over two decades of experience in social care. Since beginning my journey in care in 2000, I have grown both personally and professionally, and my values have evolved with time. I've come to truly understand how important it is to recognise and support each individual’s values and preferences. This approach underpins everything I do as a carer.Supporting people in their own homes is a role I feel naturally drawn to, and it brings me genuine joy. I gain a great deal of satisfaction from knowing that I am making a real difference in someone’s life — and I can often see the positive impact of my support firsthand. I am highly committed to providing compassionate, respectful, and person-centred care, while always adhering to professional standards, regulations, and procedures.I bring with me not only practical experience but a strong work ethic and a warm, empathetic approach. I value independence, dignity, and building strong relationships with those I support, ensuring they feel safe, respected, and heard at all times. What inspired me to work in care was looking after my own mother back home when she was very unwell. It made me realise how much I enjoy caring for others. When I came to the UK, that experience stayed with me and motivated me to pursue a career in care — and I’ve never looked back. I love what I do.

Hobbies

Outside of work, I lead a very active and social lifestyle. I enjoy hiking and keeping fit, spending time with friends, and travelling when I can. I also love cooking, baking, reading, sewing, crocheting, and playing Scrabble. Gardening is another passion of mine — I share an allotment with friends, where we grow a wide variety of vegetables.
