My experience in healthcare has been predominantly in Hospital settings- mainly working for the NHS as a health care assistant. I have looked after patients from multi cultural background suffering from different ailments, such as, but not limited to; dementia and Alzheimer's disease, 1-1 care, COPD, diabetes, palliative care, liver disease, heart disease, cancer, stroke, neurological disorders such as Parkinson's disease, cancer, asthma, hypertension, coeliac disease etc.
Hospital work is fast paced and has provided me great opportunity to gain a vast amount of experience with people at a very vulnerable time in their life. I found it to be very rewarding to be able to comfort and console people in their time of need and used interpersonal skills to communicate at a level they understood, make them feel consoled and build relationships, all while maintaining professionalism.
I am now ready for my career to move in a different direction and live in care is something I am passionate about. I will use my background knowledge to provide quality care and meet peoples needs, engage with medical teams and other professionals to form the multi disciplinary teams needed to ensure care is adapted as conditions change or progress but most importantly, I will have the time to care solely for one person and be able to give them my undivided attention. Helping them manage personal care routines, plan and cook meals, assist with running a home, provide social input and facilitate accessing the community and just be there to help them navigate daily life.
