About Carlene F.

My name is Carlene Francis, and I have over eight years of dedicated live-in care experience supporting individuals with complex neurological conditions, physical disabilities, chronic illnesses, and mental health needs. I provide compassionate, person-centred care that promotes dignity, independence, confidence, and quality of life, always adapting my approach to the individual rather than simply their diagnosis.I have extensive experience supporting clients living with dementia, Parkinson’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, Lewy body and vascular dementia, Cerebral Palsy, and other complex neurological conditions. My experience includes personal care, mobility and rehabilitation support, nutrition, continence, medication support, skin integrity, cognitive stimulation, behavioural observation, and recognising changes in physical or emotional wellbeing. I am confident adapting communication and care to clients experiencing memory loss, cognitive impairment, reduced verbal communication, or behavioural changes.I believe exceptional care is about supporting the whole person. I take time to understand each client’s personality, life history, routines, interests, preferences, and aspirations, encouraging meaningful activities such as gardening, music, outings, hobbies, and social engagement. My background in mental health also enables me to provide calm, reassuring and emotionally supportive care, while working closely with families and healthcare professionals to ensure continuity and the highest standard of support.Above all, I am passionate about helping people remain independent and live fulfilling lives in the comfort of their own homes. I build trusting relationships based on kindness, respect, dignity, professionalism, and genuine compassion, with the aim of helping every client feel safe, valued, empowered, and confident in their daily life.

Hobbies

My interests include baking, gardening, reading, history, politics, and attending music events. I enjoy reading philosophy and biographies, particularly those exploring history and political change, and I love travelling and discovering different cultures and perspectives. I have a creative side and enjoy art and fashion, as well as keeping active through swimming, boxing, and basketball. I also enjoy spending time with friends and family. I particularly value hobbies and shared interests as a way of building meaningful connections with the people I support, whether that’s enjoying a conversation over a cup of tea, baking together, tending to a garden, listening to music, or simply sharing an interest in a good book.
