I am very passionate about looking after others. I think it is a real honour to be able to support someone and enable them to live happily in their homes. It takes many skills to be a good carer- kindness, empathy, trustworthy, approachability, sensitivity and quick thinking are just a few of the vital skills I possess. I am exceptionally patient and a good listener. I really enjoy talking with others, learning about people and spending time doing things they enjoy. I get great joy when I can help someone to enjoy something. I believe it is really important to promote someone's independence so I like to spend a lot of time helping set goals and targets, then assisting them to reach those goals. My all round experience in care comes from domiciliary and live in care. I constantly learn on the job and I like to reflect on my performance daily because it improves me as an individual and enables me to be a good carer. I like to provide a lot of communication with the clients, listening and understanding what they say, being sensitive to their emotional state and mental capacity, providing the best personal care with carefulness while seeking their consent in everything I do with them. I believe a healthy, balanced diet is key to a person feeling energised and happy so I love to cook wholesome meals for people. I am adventurous with food and am willing to try cooking new recipes. I think it is very important to build up a trusting relationship with my clients so I am very conscious of their needs and make sure they feel comfortable to communicate openly with me at all times- this is so important for the client to feel heard. I feel I am good at reading people so I can pick up on a persons mood easily, enabling me to react in a way that is positive and makes the person feel at ease and safe. I am available for a live -in placement and willing to travel.
