About Nadine W.

I have worked in healthcare for all of my working life and have enjoyed every role I have had. I have done domiciliary care, worked in hospitals as a porter and recently have done live in care for the past 6 years and it is something I am really passionate about; I get such a reward from being able to help someone stay in their own home, keep them safe and see them blooming. My absolute first thought when caring for someone is making sure everything I do is directly benefiting them and enhancing their life. I understand that sometimes there are tasks that are necessary that the client may not particularly enjoy (such as physio exercises, taking medication, having help with personal care etc.) but in these cases, I explain the importance of the task at hand and try to help them through it. I am sensitive to the fact that these tasks may not be enjoyable for the client but I always try to give them something to look forward to after- either an activity they enjoy, a cup of tea and a chat or time to sit calmly. I have experience caring for people from many different backgrounds so have a wide base of knowledge about many conditions and illnesses. I have experience with moving and handling equipment and caring for bed bound clients too, so my skill base will suit anyone I care for. As well as a skill base, my work experience has also given me interpersonal skills that are invaluable to me as a carer- Kindness, compassion, empathy, understanding and intuition to be just a few.
