About Maureen O.

I am a qualified health and social care worker with vast amount of experience within the care industry. I have supported and cared for individuals living with autism, learning disability, mental health, Parkinson's disease, dementia, stroke, MS, cancer and cerebral palsy. My duties included carrying out personal care, grooming, oral hygiene, taking blood pressure, administering of medication, feeding, moving and handling, scheduling and accompanying clients to medical appointments and preparing nutritious meals. Also assisted in supporting with leisure activities, responding appropriately to emotional and developmental needs of clients. I’m a caring person with a passion and desire to make positive difference in someone's life. My ability to adapt to different individuals and personalities, young and elderly, as well as a thirst for information helps me to deliver a service which is outstanding. I am also able to work using my own initiative, but at the same time not afraid to ask if I require clarity in certain areas. I continually seek self development, to enhance my skills and abilities through workshops and refresher courses. There are times when caring for a client can become challenging, this is where I demonstrate how courageous and committed I can be. Some social activities I enjoy with clients are going out to cinemas/theatres, swimming, gym, disco nights, karaoke, playing cards, libraries, listening to various kinds of music, board games (jigsaw puzzles, monopoly, snakes and ladders, draught), walking, feeding ducks and visiting the zoo. I also enjoy arts and crafts (knitting/crocheting) and gardening. I am available for live in care and totally flexible to travel nationwide. I am also able to do night shifts, if not far from my home in Luton or accessible areas such as Luton area, St. Albans, Bedford or Hemel Hempstead.
