Carer finances are under strain; what can be done?

Feb 4, 2014 1 min

95% of care is delivered by family members, which can put long-term strain on domestic finances. Can home care ever be an affordable option?

Whatever your political views about benefit cuts and the struggle to access statutory care services, the reality is that the demographic and economic changes affecting us all are here to stay. We have to find new, innovative and cost effective ways to manage care, while maintaining employment for longer.

HomeTouch has been created to address some of the problems that families face, as our demographics shift into a new era. We know that many of our early adopters are people facing these challenges as they juggle work with helping their loved ones remain independent at home.

95% of care is delivered by family members, but we also know that the majority of care responsibilities may involve as little as prompting, doing shopping, and collecting medication. We passionately believe that technology can play some some part in alleviating these challenges. That is why as a company, we are focused on:

  • Helping carers care remotely, while juggling other responsibilities
  • Educating employers about how to help their employees remain in employment
  • Developing tools and services that help bolster and maintain the independence of people in their own homes

HomeTouch is expanding as demand for a flexible way to access care grows. We understand that going down the rout of hourly or live in care can be difficult, and that finding the right person can feel like an impossible task. We are dedicated to providing you with the means to contact fully vetted and approved carers directly, simplifying the process where we can and providing support wherever necessary.
